New Zealand’s Kane Williamson (for men) and Suzie Bates (for women) are honoured as Wisden’s leading cricketers of the world for the year 2016.
Kane Williamson leads Wisden’s top 5 with 2,692 runs in all formats in 2015, whereas his fellow country-woman, Suzie Bates leads in the women’s category.
The other 4 players featured in the lists are Brendon McCullum, the Current Australian captain Steve Smith, England’s Ben Stokes and his fellow mate Jonny Bairstow.
Kane Williamson has now joined the elite list of Sachin Tendulkar, Don Bradman and Graeme Smith to score 10 or more centuries before the age of 25. He achieved this feat after scoring his 10th century at Lord’s last year.
Wisden awards are reviewed and evaluated by Wisden Cricketer’s Almanack, to select the players who made commendable achievement in both English Summer and other tours. It was started in 2004, and every year top 5 cricketers are selected annually for their achievement the given year.
