The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to pay Rs 6.25 crore per year to Anil Kumble for being the head coach for the Indian Cricket Team.
The payment is almost 75 lakh less than what Ravi Shastri was receiving, but a BCCI member explained that the higher income for Shastri was also for his commentary duty during the Indian Premier League (IPL) matches.
Meanwhile, it is much more than the salary drawn by Gary Kirsten and Duncan Fletcher, both of whom were getting between Rs 3-4 crores.
Kumble was appointed as Team India coach in June for a period of one year. Under his coaching, on 22nd August 2016, Indian team won their first series after defeating the West Indies by 2-0 in the four-match Test series.
