On Day 4, in the final session i.e. post Tea, Indian pacer Umesh Yadav does a brilliant work from the deep as he ran out the Kiwi batsman Ross Taylor on a rocket throw.
The incident happened, when on the third ball of the 22nd over of New Zealand’s second innings, Luke Ronchi, who was batting at the other end, pushed Ravichandran Ashwin‘s delivery towards deep midwicket for quick two runs.
But Umesh Yadav, who was fielding at square leg, came running across the ground, collected the ball and threw it back to the bowler absolutely in no time.
Though Yadav was way beyond the 30-yard circle but he rocketed the ball back that was directed at the non-striker’s end and it hit the stumps on a single bounce. All of a sudden, what seemed to be an easy double few seconds back was converted into a dismissal of Ross Taylor.
The decision was referred to the TV umpire by the on-field umpires and the replay clearly showed that Taylor’s bat was in the air, despite being inside the crease.
On this occasion, the Kiwi experienced batsman was the culprit of his own dismissal as he did not grounded his bat. But one could not deny that the throw from the deep was a brilliant one.
