Ever since the release of the movie, ‘MS Dhoni : The Untold Story’, which is based on India’s most successful captain, it has taken the internet by storm. Each and every day one or the other untold truth from Dhoni’s personal life is being revealed.
Latest among this is, why did Narendra Singh Dhoni, the elder brother of Mahendra Singh Dhoni has been overlooked in the movie ?
Narendra is a local politician, who lives with his wife and two kids in Ranchi. The last we got to knew that he had joined the Samajwadi Party was in 2013 and before SP, he was with BJP.
Why Narendra Dhoni’s part has been overlooked ?
When asked about his part being axed from the movie, Narendra Dhoni said, “It must have been the filmmaker’s choice. What can I say?”
“I may be non-existent in the movie because I don’t have much contribution in Mahi’s life – be it during his childhood, his struggle as a young man or after he became MSD for the world. The film is about Mahi, not his family.”
Narendra said that he was away from home during Dhoni’s childhood, right from the time ‘Mahi’ decided to pick up the bat.
“I am 10 years older to him. By the time, he picked up the bat for the first time, I was out of JVM-Shyamali and had also been away from home since 1991. I was in Almora at Kumon (University) where I completed my higher studies before returning to Ranchi. Although I may have moral contributions in Mahi’s life, showcasing it would have been very difficult in the film” , Narendra added.
Narendra also told when did he watch Mahi’s first match.
“I did when I used to be home during vacation. I remember I was present when he debuted in Ranchi district senior tournament where he hit five fours in one over. He played beautifully than at MECON grounds. Even after that, I saw him play on a few occasions at local meets whenever I came home”, he concluded.
