Team India’s middle order-batsman Suresh Raina, who was selected into the ODI squad after a gap of one year, is set to miss the first ODI against New Zealand at Dharamsala as he is down with viral fever.
In a media release, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed the development. “The BCCI Medical team has confirmed that Suresh Raina, who is recovering from a bout of viral fever, is ruled out of the first ODI of the Paytm ODI Trophy against New Zealand,” the statement read.
The 29-year-old left-handed batsman last played an ODI in October 2015 and was subsequently left out of the team owing to poor form.
Raina’s absence from the 1st ODI was confirmed by BCCI through a tweet:
