Kumar Sangakkara (born 27 October 1977) is a former Sri Lankan cricketer who is described as one of the most polished in cricket.
He was a key member of the team that won the ICC World T20 2014 and was part of the team that made into the finals of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2007, ICC Cricket World Cup 2011, ICC World T20 2009 and ICC World T20 2012. He won the Man of the Match award in the final of the ICC World T20 2014, where he helped the team win their first title.
In terms of a number of innings required, Sangakkara is the fastest batsman to reach 8,000, 9,000, 11,000 and 12,000 runs in Test cricket.
When considering total runs scored in all forms of the game, Sangakkara is second only to India’s Sachin Tendulkar, where Sangakkara scored 28,016 international runs and Tendulkar has scored 34,357 international runs.
