Sign language between Virat Kohli and Ravi Shastri decoded

Team India head coach Ravi Shastri has lauded Virat Kohli after the Indian skipper became the fastest batsman to reach 50 international centuries, as he notched up his 18th Test century at the Eden Gardens, against Sri Lanka on Monday.

Kohli was dismissed without scoring in the 1st innings of the Test and came back strongly to score a brilliant unbeaten 104 in the second innings.

Virat and Shastri were in constant communication during India’s second innings, as India was looking to declare and try to win the match.

It was also seen that when Virat was batting on 97, he gestured towards Shastri in the dressing room, asking if he should declare or carry on for one more over.

The hosts came close to winning the match after reducing the visitors to 75/7 in the second innings on the final day.

Following up, Bhuvneshwar Kumar (4/8) and Mohammed Shami (2/34) bowled exceedingly well to drag the Islanders to the cusp of defeat before bad light stopped play and honours were shared.
