Nidahas Trophy 2018: When furious Shakib Al Hasan asked Bangladesh players to come off the field

Bangladesh has made into the finals of the Nidahas Trophy 2018 with a thrilling win over Sri Lanka on Friday. But the R. Premadasa stadium saw some ugly scenes unfold before the conclusion of the match as Shakib Al Hasan asked his players to come off the field in the last over of the 2nd innings.

When Bangladesh needed 12 runs to win from the last five balls, Sri Lanka pacer Isuru Udana bowled two short balls, which resulted in Mustafizur Rahman’s wicket.

The visitors were of the impression that the square leg umpire had signalled a shoulder height no-ball and therefore wanted clarification from the other umpire.

Unhappy with the umpire’s decision of not giving a no ball, Shakib came to the boundary rope and asked his batsmen to come off the field.

Later, Bangladesh substitute fielders also got into the action with the Sri Lankan captain Thisara Perera. The play was brought to a pause for 15 minutes but then umpires interfered and the play was resumed.

Finally, Mahmudullah smashed a six off the 5th ball and helped his side seal the match by two wickets.
