Dinesh Karthik reveals the secret behind his finishing skills while talking to Archana Vijaya

Dinesh Karthik’s 8-ball 29 gave India a thrilling win in the final over of the run-chase in the Nidahas Trophy 2018 final against Bangladesh in Colombo.

Chasing 167, India were off to a flying start thanks to Rohit Sharma but the tight bowling from Mustafizur Rahman in the 18th over, left India with 34 runs to get from the last 12 balls.

Out walked the man everyone calls DK and he went: 6 4 6 0 2 4 1 6 off 8 balls.

With five needed off the final ball, Karthik hit a flat six over extra cover to script one of the most incredible finishes in T20I history.

After the match, while speaking to sports anchor Archana Vijaya, Karthik said he had put to good use everything he had learned from Dhoni.

“I guess it comes from experience. That can’t be bought. You learn it over the years – it’s important to stay calm.

“Dhoni is a great example of that. You can see how calm he is, and you learn a lot of things from a lot of people, and one thing I’ve learned from Dhoni is how he finishes.”

Karthik was also named ‘Man of the match’ for his sensational knock. The 32-year-old will next be seen in action during IPL 2018 where he will be leading Kolkata Knight Riders.
