On Day 2 of the ongoing second Test between India and England, Team India’s star-all rounder Ravindra Jadeja was given LBW by the Sri Lankan umpire Kumar Dharmasena off the delivery which was going down the leg-side.
Dharamsena has been in the news lately for his bizarre decisions in the last 3 Test matches that he has officiated. He has made controversial decisions in Bangladesh and is now continuing to do so in the tour of India.
When Moeen Ali was given the ball by English skipper Alastair Cook, the off-spinner first dismissed Indian wicket-keeper batsman Wriddhiman Saha and then sent back Jadeja for a ‘duck’.
Moeen skid the ball to the left-hander with the seam pointing towards gully and Jadeja was rightly caught in-front of the wicket as per the umpire’s views.
Dharmasena raised his finger and declared Jadeja OUT. The southpaw who initially seemed unconvinced with the decision, decided not to opt for the DRS and walked away. However, the replays clearly showed that the ball was missing the batsman’s leg-stump.
