No outstation players in Tamil Nadu Premier League: BCCI

The day after 88 outstation cricketers registered with the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) in order to play in Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL), the BCCI has shot a letter to TNCA saying that outstation cricketers can’t play in a league run by a state association.

BCCI acting secretary Amitabh Choudhary sought an explanation from TNCA, and also attached the proceeding of a working committee meeting that dealt with the issue a few years ago.

Apart from BCCI, the Maharashtra Cricket Association has also made it clear that their players will not participate in TNPL. MCA did not grant a No Objection Certificate(NOC) for Maharashtra batsman Rahul Tripathi, who had a successful season of IPL 2017 for Rising Pune Supergiant.

Several top-tier Indian players registered for the draft to participate in the second edition of TNPL including Suresh Raina, Yusuf Pathan, Manoj Tiwary, Sanju Samson.

Suresh Raina

However, swashbuckling batsman Suresh Raina was the biggest attraction among all these players. Since he is no more a part of Team India’s squad in any of the three formats of the game for the upcoming tours.
