India-Pakistan series only possible if approved by the Home Ministry – BCCI

Matches between India and Pakistan have a huge viewership. Millions of cricket fans wait for the epic battle between the two nations. But due to political tensions between India and Pakistan, both nations are not playing any bilateral series.

But recently after the meeting between BCCI and Sports Ministry, BCCI told that the decision of having a bilateral series between the two nations lies in the hands of Prime Minister and Home Ministry. “Anyway, playing Pakistan or not, it is not only the decision of Sports Ministry but it lies mainly with PMO and the Home Ministry,” the official said.

BCCI and PCB signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in 2014 to organize 6 series between the two nations from 2015 to 2023. But due to political tensions, India refused to tour Pakistan in 2015.

Last time the two nations played in a bilateral series was in 2012-13 in India. Pakistan won the ODI series by 2-1 and the T20 series ended up in a draw.

If the series between the two nations get approved by the Home Ministry, it would be a really great news for cricket fans, as cricket can’t get bigger than India vs Pakistan match.
